How errata are published, how the repository is versioned against this edition, and where to report a problem.
GitHub Issues on the companion repository are the errata channel, for the book and for the code. The most useful report names the chapter, the step, what the book said would happen, and what happened instead.
This edition is pinned to companion release v1.0.0. Later patches publish corrections and errata; they do not silently redefine what this edition claimed. Tags are immutable from v1.0.0 onward: a mistake is corrected by a new tag, never by moving an old one.
Where the book and docs/subject-map.md disagree, the map is correct and the book is the defect.
